About the artist: Born and raised in Vancouver, BC, Laura McKibbon is a self-taught ceramic artist now residing in Montreal. Working in clay for over fifteen years, Laura is widely recognized for her work in ceramic and print and has been featured in several publications including Gestalten’s Fragiles: Porcelain, Ceramics and Glass, Lark Books 500 Prints on Clay and Paul Scott's seminal book, Ceramics and Print.

Artist Statement: Through form, colour, and surface decoration, I strive to create objects that evoke moments of sentiment, memory and reminiscence. My work features a strong graphic element referencing the historical tradition of ceramic surface decoration, while reflecting aspects of contemporary life. I personally handcraft my work through every step; finely crafted forms act as the base for detailed surface decoration, which incorporate a variety of photographic and print techniques, developing narrative through image and pattern.
