Description: teabowl with inlay slip

Materials and process: Salt glazed stoneware, cone 10, wheel thrown and altered

About the artist: I live in North Vancouver, and share a studio in East Van with other ceramic artists. I have a BFA from the University of BC, and I studied pottery with Sam Kwan at Capilano College. Last year I was honoured to win the Northwest Ceramics Foundation Award of Excellence.

Artist Statement: I have been exploring salt fired pottery for the last 15 years. The textures and colours, as well as the unexpected surprises that salt firing brings is inspiring and exciting. I make functional pottery for the home. Using pottery for cooking, eating and displaying food is a great pleasure, and a way to celebrate daily moments and rituals.
