Description: Hexagon and Bee Mug
About the Artist: Kaleb Romano is an Edmonton based artist currently about to open his new studio, and teaching space. He primarily works in clay, wood or painting showing internationally Kaleb has work in public and private collections all over the world. Often involving strong bold patterns inspired by prints, geometric repetitive patterns, M.C Escher, William Morris, fabric, architecture, and nature. More often than not his clothes match his work.
Artist Statemente: A quick glance can capture and entice an audience, what I aim for is to create something that turns a quick look into a long stare. Something a little different like an art deco pattern in the abdomen of a bee. The underneath, small details within a drawing, or insides can have some of the best detail and patterns. It’s those hidden treasures that I wish my audience to experience. I create pieces that are used to perform daily rituals such as morning coffee, lunch, or dinner. Inspired by repeated shapes and mundane patterns that surround us in our day to day lives and a nod to the rich history of the material of clay
